St. Georges Open Armchair

St. Georges Open Armchair
A refined interpretation of an 18th-century Louis XV fauteuil originally created by Jean-Étienne St. Georges, a maker whose work is both rare and highly regarded for its elegance and sculptural clarity.
This model is distinguished by its graceful proportions and fluid silhouette, where each element transitions seamlessly into the next. The sweeping arms descend in a continuous curve into the seat rail, creating a sense of movement that is both controlled and expressive—hallmarks of the Louis XV style at its most sophisticated.
The frame is richly carved with delicate floral and foliate motifs, subtly integrated into the structure rather than applied, enhancing the chair’s sense of cohesion and lightness. The shaped back and generously proportioned seat provide comfort while maintaining a refined, architectural presence.
Shown here in beechwood with Briar fabric from Rebecca Attwood and nailhead trim, the fauteuil may be customized in a range of finishes and fabrics to suit both traditional and contemporary interiors.
A piece that balances ornament and restraint, the St. Georges Fauteuil brings a quiet sophistication to any room—whether used as an occasional chair, desk chair, or part of a seating group.
